Overview
The Head of Legal at VIDA is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all legal functions across the organization. This position requires a dynamic, tech-savvy legal professional with a strong foundation in digital identity, cybersecurity, and regional regulatory frameworks. The individual plays a pivotal role in enabling VIDA’s operations through risk mitigation, compliance assurance, and legal innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the legal team, overseeing all legal aspects of the company’s operations, including contracts, compliance, risk management, and intellectual property.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of legal agreements, including service agreements, vendor contracts, licensing agreements, data processing agreements, and terms of service related to commercial and product activities.
- Provide legal advice to senior management and cross-functional teams on matters impacting product development and digital identity initiatives.
- Collaborate with product teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to post-launch, offering proactive legal input on product design, compliance, and go-to-market strategies.
- Advise on and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including data protection, consumer protection, and sector-specific regulations.
- Safeguard the company’s intellectual property rights, including management of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
- Support or lead corporate governance matters, including board meetings, shareholder matters, entity management, and maintenance of corporate records.
- Manage legal disputes, regulatory investigations, and litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel when necessary.
- Implement tools, templates, and processes to streamline legal operations, enhance scalability, and manage legal spend efficiently.
- Conduct legal training sessions and create educational materials to raise awareness of legal and compliance issues among employees.
Qualifications:
- Holds a law degree (Sarjana Hukum or equivalent) from a reputable university.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing law, with minimum 5 years of career focus on cybersecurity, SaaS, PaaS or other technology services.
- Proven track record in providing strategic legal counsel, managing legal teams, and handling complex legal matters in fast paced, high growth environments.
- Knowledge of regional and global data protection laws and regulations, including relevant Southeast Asian privacy frameworks.
- Excellent proficiency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, including strong legal drafting and verbal communication skills in both languages
- Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Experienced in litigation/dispute resolution and intellectual property management.
- Possession of an advocate license (Kartu Advokat) is a plus.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and growing in-house legal teams is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory environments in Southeast Asian jurisdictions is a plus.
